It may not be a busy period off the pitch for Arsenal, but there’s been plenty of change on it as Arsene Wenger looks to experiment with the squad.
As well as much needed fitness ahead of the Liverpool game on August 14th, the boss has had the chance to see where players are best suited to accomodate the absentees.
Following their success at the Euro’s the Gunners trio of Mesut Ozil, Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud will miss the opening of the Premier League due to an extended holiday spell.
That gives a number of players the chance to feature in a new-look Arsenal XI, with the signing of Granit Xhaka and Rob Holding adding much needed competition in the ranks.
None more so that Aaron Ramsey who will now look to push up the field and challenge Ozil for the number 10 position, something he’s been desperate to secure.
The Welshman was handed 65 minutes as Arsenal took on Manchester City in their final pre-season game before opening up the curtain on a new Premier League campaign.
