Today reports suggest Arsenal want to invest in Southampton duo Schneiderlin and Chambers and are readying a €20m bid for Sami Khedira. See all the Arsenal transfer news in our Gossip Column.
Arsenal are preparing a €20million bid for Sami Khedira (Le10Sport). Khedira would be a very good addition and the report says Madrid could be looking to sign one of Pogba, Ramires or Verratti this summer – so it makes sense. Khedira has just recovered from a major injury, and although the asking price of €20million seems unrealistically low, the Gunners are unlikely to have to pay a big fee for the German midfielder. Khedira is 27 and has the right blend of experience, quality and potential to be a leader at Arsenal for the coming seasons.
Arsenal are interested in signing one of Clement Grenier or Morgan Schneiderlin (L’Equipe). Seems a bit odd that it would be one or the other.. they play in different positions. Anyway if Arsene wouldn’t re-sign Cesc Fabregas then there is not a chance he will sign Grenier. The Gunners need a holding midfielder and Schneiderlin certainly fits the bill. His has all the necessary traits and talents to succeed at Arsenal and he fits the bill. I would say he is the most likely defensive midfielder to join this summer – and I certainly wouldn’t be upset if he did.
Arsenal will make a move for Callum Chambers following extensive scouting of the teenager (Mirror). Chambers would be a quality addition but he will not come cheap. He’s a teenager who has played plenty of games in the Premier League this season and he’s English. If we look at the price Shaw is being sold for, then we can’t expect to sign Chambers for any less than £15million. He is worth it in the long term but can you see Wenger paying over the odds for a player who is yet to prove himself? I think he is worth the investment, and although Southampton seem to be selling everyone at the moment and so will be trying to hold onto Chambers – they do have Clyne who is also a very talented right back. Chambers is likely to jump at the chance of a move, with possibly more game time available at Arsenal than Southampton considering the competition!

Mario Balotelli and Loic Remy will team up at Arsenal next season (Mail). Well this is just pure guesswork in my opinion. Rob Shephard (the author of the article in the Mail) hardly has the best track record in terms of reliabilty. In fact, he’s been proven to be wrong with so many of his exclusive you wonder how is still allowed to publish them. That’s not to say Arsenal won’t sign one of these strikers this summer – because there is a chance we will.
