Arsene Wenger wasn’t kidding when he said the club are preparing to get business done early, with a midfield target already identified.

According to the latest report from the London Evening Standard, Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina has emerged as the Gunners number one man.

At just 23 he’s not the finished product but Arsenal are in desperate need of quality back-up in the midfield area following the news to Santi Cazorla.

Arsenal’s fan favourite veteran recently stated that a return to action isn’t expected until at least the start of November, with no assurances over his long-term fitness.

But having signed a new one-year contract back in January, Cazorla is a high earner on the wage bill so Arsenal must find a reasonable player to fill the void.

That comes in the shape of Lemina, who hasn’t had the best of luck when it comes to getting appearances at the Serie A champions since his switch back in 2015.

Having featured in the league on 19 occasions, most of which coming from off the bench, Lemina is reportedly looking for a fresh start and North London could be the answer.

From a fan’s perspective, it’s clear to see that the future of Jack Wilshere and Joel Campbell is hanging in the balance over the next few months.

We’ve got to start a ruthless streak of kicking out the deadwood: Debuchy, Jenkinson, Campbell, Gibbs and Lucas are all set to leave.
