Arsenal are set to table a bid for William Carvalho of around £22million and tie up the signing of Greek defender Kostas Manolas for £8million this week according to The Telegraph’s Matt Law.
Lukas Podolski looks set to be sold by the Gunners with the club hoping to raise up to £10million from his sale. The German is on nearly £100,000 per week and is not in favour with Arsene Wenger. Joel Campbell, who plays in the same positions as the German has returned from loan this summer and looks set to take his place.
The Gunners look like they will not add another forward, even if Podolski completes a move away from the club. William Carvalho has a £28million release clause but Arsenal will hope a deal can be completed for around £22million. Sporting Lisbon seem prepared to sell their star man at the right price and he certainly fits the mould of player Arsenal need right now.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti seemed to rule out a move for Sami Khedira on Sunday: “Khedira is happy here and he is staying. The matter is resolved and he stays at Real Madrid.”
Arsenal now look set to go all out on William Carvalho as they look to add strength and height to their midfield.
