Arsenal Enter £20million Race To Sign Word Cup Winning Liverpool Target

Arsenal appear to now be in the race to sign another World Cup winner. Mario Gotze is the man on the move, after Bayern Munich’s new boss Carlo Ancelotti told him to look elsewhere.

Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund were thought to be the favourites to sign the German, but Arsenal’s interest could scupper Jurgen Klopp’s ambitions to be re-united with Gotze.

Gotze has been a squad player for Bayern this season, and with his contract expiring in a years time, he is certain to leave the German club this summer. Where he wants to go is up for debate, some will say he’d like to go back to Dortmund, others point to a reunion with Klopp, but Arsenal are an interesting alternative.

The chance to go to England, live in the capital, play Champions League football and feature alongside the likes of Mesut Ozil may be too hard to turn down for the long-term Arsenal target. Gotze has previously admitted his admiration for football at Arsenal and Arsene Wenger is a known admirer.

There is room for Gotze at Arsenal, with Tomas Rosicky set to depart and Lukas Podolski never being replaced, there could be a starting spot for Gotze on the left wing, a position currently occupied by youngster Alex Iwobi. That would allow Alexis Sanchez to play in his favoured right wing berth and perhaps push Theo Walcott out the club.

Gotze is a very good dribbler of the ball, something which has not been present much in Rosicky’s injury absence. I’d certainly welcome him to the club, especially at the reported £20million asking price. A Klopp reunion will be hard to fight against, but hopefully Wenger can work his magic.
