Arsenal Defender Set To Join Hector Bellerin In Committing His Future To The Gunners

Whilst most of the hype surrounding contract extensions has involved the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, there hasn’t been much talk about defensive reinforcement.

However, it’s being reported by L’Equipe today that Laurent Koscielny is ready to put pen to paper on a brand new contract that would see him stay at the club until 2020.

With Wenger’s recent capture of Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding, question marks were raised on how many years the Frenchman had left at the top of his game.

But at 31 the centre back has never looked better in an Arsenal shirt, and following a strong campaign last year has now formed a superb partnership with Mustafi at the heart of our back four.

The French press are stating the contract is in place and Koscielny will be set to sign within the coming days, another fantastic boost for Arsene Wenger’s hopes of achieving silverware.

Having joined the club back in 2010, Koscielny will soon make his 200th appearance in red and white jersey and has never kept his love for everything Arsenal a secret.

A few weeks back Koscielny hinted that an extension was on the cards after revealing he will only finish his career in England or at former club Lorient, where Wenger originally signed him from.

So that contract will keep Koscielny at Wenger’s disposal until he’s 34, and with the likes of Mustafi, Holding, Gabriel and Chambers all coming through the ranks the future looks good.

Per Mertesacker is still sweating on being offered a contract renewal, he’s recently returned to London Colney after finishing his rehabilitation in Germany.
