Arsenal are closing in on the £8million signing of French international Loic Remy.
Arsenal have always been interested in Loic Remy and now he has returned from the World Cup, Arsenal look set to conclude a deal and could meet the players release clause in his contract. The Mirror on Tuesday night reported that the Gunners were ‘close’ to a transfer being completed for the 27-year-old forward.
Personal terms are yet to be agreed with Remy currently earning £75,000 per-week at Newcastle, and Arsenal thought to be offering slightly less than this amount. Debuchy is set to earn a similar figure, but would be a first team player. As a rotation player, it is easy to see why Arsene Wenger may be reluctant to pay him over £70,000 per week.
Remy would join Alexis Sanchez is a new look Arsenal frontline, that will be bolstered with pace and quality. The Gunners attack looked blunt at times last season, when Olivier Giroud was often their only option going forward. Remy and Sanchez can both play out wide or through the middle, giving Arsene Wenger flexibility in his selection for his attack.
