Arsenal On Alert As Riyad Mahrez Speaks Out About A Summer Transfer

After what has to be one of the most underwhelming summers off the pitch, Arsenal fans should brace themselves for a busy couple of weeks in the transfer window.

That’s because Riyad Mahrez has spoken out on his future and has admitted that he would be open to a transfer away from Leicester City, should the right club come in for him.

In an interview with France Football that’s been quoted in the London Evening Standard, the PFA Player of the Year went on to admit that life in England is perfect.

Mahrez has long term plans to stay in the Premier League, but where he’ll be playing his football now depends on what sort of clubs are interested in his services.

Reports have been teasing Gunners supporters all summer that Arsene Wenger is keen to make a move for the Algerian international, but more reliable sources have stated there has been no approach made towards Leicester yet.

A move away from the King Power Stadium was on the top of the agenda when talking to the 25-year-old, and he remained coy on whether he planned to leave the champions this summer.

The Premier League is a super league and I would like to stay here for as long as possible.

Now, there are two or three clubs in the world, that if they come for me, it definitely makes you think, if you understand what I’m trying to say.

You get the feeling that Arsenal could still go in for Mahrez, but it’s very similar to the Lacazette situation and the player would need to force the move for anything to happen.

Mahrez is reluctant to do that due to his loyalties to the supporters and of course the man who brought him through to be the standout man of the Premier League, Claudio Ranieri.

This could be a deal that will go down to the wire, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mahrez stick around at Leicester for one more season where he can enjoy Champions League football.
