An open letter to Arsene. Players who WILL improve Arsenal

Arsene Wenger said on Friday if we brought him a player that would improve the squad then he would look at them (with the intention to sign), so I did. I think we need a goalkeeper, right-back, centre-back, defensive midfielder, winger and striker. Here’s the list.

Asmir Begović – 26 years old – Goalkeeper – £15million

Positives:

Would improve the team

Premier League experienced

Stoke have Butland so could sell

Júlio César – 33 years old – Goalkeeper – £4million

Positives:

Would improve the team

At an age that he wouldn’t ‘kill’ Szczesny

Experienced International keeper

Wants to play in London

Cheap, Q.P.R. willing to sell for a couple of million.

Mamadou Sakho – 23 years old – Centre-Back – £12million

Screw bullet points I’m explaining this. Sakho IS available, confirmed by PSG. We have 2 fit centre-backs and only three fit when everyone is available. Sakho would add real quality, he’s a nice age to come into an aging centre-back department and gives quality depth, as he can cover at left-back too. With Monreal out and Gibbs frail, having that option will always be a bonus – he’d be a quality addition and worth every penny.

Ashley Williams – 28 years old – Centre-Back – £8million

We could sign him tonight if we paid £10million. We could probably get him for £8million and he wouldn’t be my first choice (Sakho would), but still, he is a player who would add depth to the side and experience. He’d improve the squad and he’s available.

Right-Back: We need one. Jenkinson looks a bit lost again, Sagna is off the pace and we can’t afford this. Juanfran, Jesus Gamez, Uchida all seem to be available. I’m not confident on suggesting a definitive signing at right-back because I don’t watch the names suggested above on a regular basis. I’m sure (hope) that you, Arsene, have a dossier of right-back targets.

Blaise Matuidi – 26 years old – Defensive Midfielder – £20million

One year left on his contract, yet to sign a new deal  and he’s an absolute monster in the midfield. He seems to be unsure at PSG as does Sakho and we should really capitalise with a double swoop which would be a huge statement on intent.

Marouane Fellaini – 25 years old – Defensive Midfielder – £23million

Seems we’ve missed our window now. If we paid up last month Man Utd would have still been chasing Fabregas and Thiago and the big haired Belgium International would still hold a release clause in his contract, leaving Everton no choice but to sell.

Erik Lamela – 21 years old – Left-Winger – £30million
Willian Borges – 25 years old – Versatile Attacking Midfielder – £30million

Two top class players that apparently Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham are in for. They are £30million players and we should be willing to pay up and sign a player of their calibre. He will make a huge difference to the side and be a quality replacement for Gervinho.

Michu – 27 years old – Striker – £20million

Not my first choice by any stretch of the imagination, but the Spaniard would add depth and quality to the side, he’s a player who is going to guarantee goals and also work well in our system.

Jackson Martinez – 26 years old – Striker – £25million

A top striker who is scoring for fun for Porto. He’s a striker with immense quality, not tested in the best leagues, but he is considered by many as the best striker outside the top 5 leagues in Europe. He might just be the best player available to us.

Unrealistic (?) options:

Wayne Rooney – Striker – £30million

Luis Suarez – Striker – £50million

Edin Dzeko – Striker – £25million

Samuel Eto’o – Striker – £15million

Javier Hernandez – Striker – £20million

Not going to talk much about these lot Arsene, I’m sure you know them. Pay up, pay what they want and we might actually have a chance of signing them, I don’t care if they currently play for better clubs – some want to move – some barely play.

There you go, you can sign Flamini on a free as well if you want, I didn’t have to tell you that one did I?
