Allegri ‘Wants To Sign This Midfielder For Arsenal’ If He Takes Over In The Summer

There have been reports this morning that Allegri has verbally agreed to succeed Arsene Wenger at the end of the season if the Frenchman leaves.

If that is the case, then Allegri will surely already be thinking about the kind of players he would like to sign for Arsenal. One that the press are suggesting looks likely is the Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

When a new manager does come in, the fans would probably like to see some big name footballers arrive. Sergej certainly has a big name in terms of characters, but he is not an established name in Europe as of yet.

Sergej is a 22-year-old box to box midfielder that was wanted by Allegri at Juventus last summer. Arsenal do lack a box to box midfielder with a physical presence, and that is exactly what he is.

He stands at 191cm and is known for his strength in aerial duels, but also his ability to dribble the ball in transitions.

Arsenal currently have a plethora of central midfield options, but you get the feeling that if a new manager came in he would have a big reshuffle. The Gunners have struggled when Santi Cazorla has been out, and the Spaniard has a serious long term injury, so the club can no longer afford to depend on him. Whoever the manager is this summer needs to surely address that issue.

I’m not sure if this Lazio midfielder is the answer, but according to press he’s a player Allegri would like to bring to Arsenal – so if the Italian does take over at Arsenal this summer then maybe expect this guy to follow.
