3 Things We Learnt From Arsenal’s Win Against Crystal Palace

Arsenal picked up their first points of the season in a hard fought win against Crystal Palace on Sunday. Here’s three things I learned about Arsenal from the game.

1. Nacho Monreal is our most consistent defender

Laurent Koscielny’s second half performance might have got the plaudits, but there are question marks over his positioning for the first goal. Monreal though, who was targeted for his lack of pace by Palace’s jet-heeled wingers – looked comfortable for the whole game. He has really improved over the last year and a half, and I am now very happy that he didn’t decide to go back to Spain this summer. We need players, especially defenders who are going to be consistent and not lose focus, Monreal did just that. Gibbs will continue to have a tough job getting back into the team. It is best that Gibbs, 4 year younger than Monreal – learns from the Spaniard as it is the defensive area of his game where Gibbs needs to improve.
