In an exclusive reveal, the popular British tabloid claims the Gunners have met with Romelu Lukaku and Alexandre Lacazette in the hope of creating a title-winning attack.

Arsenal have been linked with the pair for a number of weeks now, and following recent updates in the transfer market, the pathway looks clear for Wenger to land a top striker.

However, nobody predicted that the North London were after the duo within the same window, and if the reports are true, a vast amount of underwhelmed supporters will finally have something to cheer about.

According to the report, Wenger met with both Everton and Lyon as well as both of the players representatives to discuss the reality of them joining the Emirates this summer.

Various figures have been dished around in the media since Lukaku came into the picture, and it’s believed The Toffees would be willing to let their star man go for £40m.

A mixture of urgency and the ability to spend big this summer is what’s tempting Wenger into finding a striker capable of handling the pressure of a title charge.

There’s no secret behind Wenger being an admirer of 25-year-old Lacazette who seems to be the out-running favourite to make the switch to North London.

Wenger has been out to watch the striker on a number of occasions and is a big admirer of the attributes that helped him finish behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the Ligue 1 Golden Boot.

After missing out on Jamie Vardy, the French international is the one that stands out when finding a player capable of rivalling Olivier Giroud for a spot in the starting XI week after week.

Lacazette has good control and is capable of scoring goals in and around the area as a poacher, he’s also got bags of confidence after lighting up the top French division for a number of seasons.

If the pair were to come in it would certainly take some pressure off of the manager from the opening of the season, something that is vital to get right so the fans are in good spirits.

In order to do that, Wenger needs to dig out his cheque book in time for a decent run in pre-season with the rest of the squad, something that recent summer signings haven’t had.

The late deal of Danny Welbeck meant he struggled to get to grips with his new club for at least two months, and having new arrivals for pre-season could be huge for Arsenal’s campaign.

The early move for Vardy shows us that Wenger wants a fresh face in time for the USA tour, which begins towards the end of this month, so watch this space!
