According to a report in the London Evening Standard, Borussia Dortmund are itching to sort his future out soon so they are able to plan for the new Bundesliga season.

And that pressure could be good news for Arsenal who are currently favourites to get his signature following weeks of reported interest in the winger.

Rumours started to pass through the English media after Mino Raiola, Mkhitaryan’s agent, confirmed that the 27-year-old was in no rush to sign a new contract with the German giants.

That doesn’t seem to be the problem that Dortmund have, it’s down to the fact he only has one year left on his contract and they could be more in favour of cashing in whilst he’s hot property.

Pressure is growing on Dortmund to think about the long-term and getting back into the Champions League now means they’re after some of Europe’s top talent, so the cash from this sale will undoubtedly help to fund a big money move.

Manchester City were strongly linked with in-form striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and following that interest, the clubs sporting director has confirmed they “will make a decision this week”.

Standing as a prolific figure for both club and country, the Armenian could be one of the best bits of business Arsene Wenger has done during his 20 years in charge.

The transfer would no doubt force concern over the future of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott, who both missed out on places in the England squad at this years Euro’s.

Either one of the pair could easily fetch up to and above £20million so Arsene Wenger has a big decision to make as Mkhitaryan will be another first on the team sheet.

If any deal for the midfielder is to go through then the Gunners need to act fast as despite being favourites to capture their man, Manchester United and Liverpool are also on the scene.

Champions League football is what Wenger can play as his trump card though, and with the chance to play alongside Alexis and Ozil, the forward has plenty of reasons to choose North London.
