It appears the penny has finally dropped for Arsene Wenger, the Gunners need to sign a world class centre back.
Despite maintaining faith in the likes of Gabriel Paulista and Per Mertesacker, the Gunners continue to be defensively vulnerable. Arsenal are now being linked with a move for several top quality defenders, I take a look at 4 possible improvements.
1 – Mats Hummels
The Dortmund defender has hinted that he may be on the way out of the club this summer, and Arsenal should be on alert. It is extremely rare for a player with such confidence, leadership, experience and quality to become available. His contract expires in 2017, so his fee will not be huge, but the Gunners will need to be prepared to invest heavily in his wages in order to compete with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United for his signature.
